March 2023

Zulma transitions out of BAWT and into Life Stages full-time.

July 2021

Zulma moves to the San Francisco East Bay Area and begins working as the Executive Director at a local Oakland-based NGO, BAWT

Nov 2018

Receives her Masters in Philosophy in Psychology & Education from the University of Cambridge

Oct. 2017- Nov 2018

Zulma furthered her education at the University of Cambridge (PhM’18) receiving her graduate degree in Psychology and Education with an emphasis in outdoor health. She conducted a case-study in partnership with the Wilderness Foundation where she investigated participant understanding and relation to outdoor therapeutic education.

Summer 2017

Zulma moves between France and the Netherlands as she applies and processes visa paperwork for her upcoming Masters program at the University of Cambridge

2012 - 2014

Worked in sales and marketing at local startups, including Promodealer and Speedpro Imaging. Zulma was going through mental and personal development difficulties and decided to quit her job, sell her belongings, save for a year, and buy a one-way ticket to Europe to rediscover herself. The plan was to backpack for 6 months in Europe and then 6 months in Latin America, and return with a clearer sense of who she was and how to contribute to the world. This was accomplished but the year abroad lasted just short of 5 years

Sept 2007 - Jun 2012

Attends the College at the University of Chicago, double majoring in Cinema & Media Studies and Romance Languages & Literature. She graduates with General Honors and Honors in Romance Languages & Literature. She conducts her first independent research, publication, and presentations in the field of Cinema & Media Studies, including:

2003-2007

Applies and is accepted to Lane Technical College Preparatory in the Honors and AP route and gets her first sparks of educational interest in cinema, outdoor sports, and human psychology.

1994 - 2003

Zulma attends Gale Community Academy from kindergarten to 3rd grade. After the prompting of a Gale teacher, Mrs. Sharon, Zulma’s family transfers her to Philip Rogers Fine Arts Elementary from 4th-8th grade for a “better education.”

1990

Two family members emigrate to the US with 1 year old Zulma in tow. One of the family members does not make it and is buried almost immediately after arriving in California. The other family member decides to rebuild with Zulma in Chicago’s Rogers Park area with a trusted family member.
